Thoroughly Modern Blogging

Although I nailed a new calendar to the wall a few weeks ago, I basically forgot that the year actually changed. I’ve caught myself scratching out 2012 on checks, grade reports, and journal entries. Multiple times. Every day.

I’m so behind.

And not just in writing the correct year… I finally joined the 21st century of social media! Most of you are already pros at using these sites, but for those of you stuck in the Stone Ages like me…

Twitter

Twitter. No, you don’t actually chirp like a bird… (But I’d be a nightingale if that were true!) It’s a place to share ideas, information, or insights in 140 characters or less. Short, sweet, and simple. I’m @FoodsforSoul, and you can click HERE to follow me for more of my quirky ideas and food adventures!

Pinterest

Pinterest. Time to give away all of your old pushpins and paperclips. This site is the ultimate online corkboard! Pinterest is perfect for organization, inspiration, and motivation. Every photo you “pin” onto your boards comes with a link back to the original source and space to type captions. Click HERE to follow me and get a sneak preview on foods I’m planning to make!

Instagram

Instagram. Remember the days of Polaroid pictures? You’d click the shutter, grab the print that the camera spat out, and wave it around until—voila!—the image magically appeared. Speed up that process by 100x and convert it to digital, and you’ve got Instagram. It’s an easy way to edit and instantly share photos from your smart phone, complete with captions, comments, and tags. I’m foodsforthesoul, and you can click HERE (better if from your phone) to see all of the dishes I eat too quickly before I can blog about them!

Amy, I only have FB profile, but I use it couple time a monts … if you were stock in Stone Ages, where is then ‘me’? 🙂

Maybe at the Big Bang? ;] Just teasing!! Before 2013, I only had a Facebook page, and I checked into that about once a week. I’m still trying to figure out how to use these sites and all of the etiquette, but we’ll see how it goes!

      • irena078 replied:

ok than. I am crossing fingers for us, Stonehenge people 🙂

      • foods for the soul replied:

I’m so glad I’m not alone in coming from a Stone Age era!! :]

      • irena078 replied:

Me too, me too 🙂 We could study all those buttons and what they mean together 😉

      • foods for the soul replied:

Will there be a test? ;] All of the new lingo, like hashtags and tweets and pins!

      • irena078 replied:

A test? O my god! 😀 You must be kidding …. Just don’t tell me now that there are a huge books to study for… 😀

      • foods for the soul replied:

You’re really smart; I’m sure you wouldn’t even need to study!

      • irena078 replied:

        You too, thank you 😉
At the moment I’ll be happy with all buttons offered on that blog site 🙂 But I absolutely plan FB, t&co for near future.

      • foods for the soul replied:

Sounds like a great plan! It’s nice to have something to work towards, even if it’s just finally making it into the 21st century. ;]

You’re not the only one! I don’t use twitter that often, I’ve literally just joined Pinterest myself and I don’t even have internet on my phone so don’t use the much talked about instagram haha! So your definitely doing well 🙂

    • foods for the soul replied:

Whew, I’m glad I’m not alone!! I’m still learning the ins and outs and etiquette, especially with Twitter and Instagram. I think it’d help if I were a teenager; they seem to be so adept at social media these days!

I think I may need a bit of a push to get there. Just got my first digital camera last month. Loved (and still do) my 35mm Rebel. Still rocking the flip phone….at least I don’t have big 80’s hair, lol.

    • foods for the soul replied:

I miss my film camera!! I took a darkroom b&w photography class YEARS ago, and I loved developing the film and photos. I still have the camera in my closet somewhere, but taking film to the store just isn’t the same as developing prints myself…

Absolutely nothing wrong with flip phones either! I kind of miss the days of simplicity and less technology… But then again, I love blogging, so I don’t know where that leaves me!

I’m so weird about all these social networks! I scroll through Twitter all the time, but never remember to tweet myself. I browse Pinterest for ideas, but have never signed up…and I edit my phone pics with Instagram, but don’t actually use my account to share them! Haha Looking forward to following your tweets though!

    • foods for the soul replied:

I have a problem remembering to tweet too! And then when I try to write a little message, I can never compose anything cute or witty. Hopefully I improve a tiny bit soon!

  5. mrswebbinthekitchen replied:

Yay! Those are big steps! And I’m excited for your sneaky veggie series… Good for sneaking veggies to hubby!

    • foods for the soul replied:

Thanks! And thank YOU for following me on Instagram — it means a lot. :] I’m starting the series tomorrow, so hopefully he approves! It’ll be a lot harder to sneak veggies to my guy, that’s for sure…

  6. BekAtCrave replied:

Yay! Welcome to the world of social media. I don’t have Instagram- so late to that party haha! But I do have twitter and pinterest, so I’m following you 😉

    • foods for the soul replied:

Aww thank you, that’s so sweet of you!! 😀 I’m still getting used to everything, and the hardest part is remembering to use all of the different sites!
